La Petite Crêperie, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

If you are looking for authentic and traditional French crêpes in Melbourne, be sure to check out La Petite Crêperie. They have three locations: one in Hardware Lane, one in Swanston Street, and one in Westfield Knox Ozone. The last two locations mentioned are takeaway kiosks while the one in Hardware Lane is an actual cafe.

All three sites are in the city of Melbourne but our newest kiosk at Knox Ozone is in Melbourne’s east and our first time in the suburbs,” said La Petite Crêperie co-owner Patrizia. “Many of our customers live in the suburbs and come into the CBD to enjoy our crêpes so we decided to venture out. We chose that location as it has a fantastic outdoor dining precinct and we needed this type of open space and ambience to launch our new caravan kiosk called the Juliette, so a great fit!”

La Petite Crêperie has been serving Melbournians since 2008, when Michaël and Patrizia opened their first sit-down crêperie and cafe in Hardware Lane which was then called Crêperie Le Triskel, and has been featured numerous times in local media including The Urban List, City of Melbourne Magazine, and TimeOut.

Food

All of the ingredients La Petite Crêperie uses are either handmade on site or are locally-sourced and everything is prepared daily.

La Rémi

One of my friends ordered La Rémi which is a crêpe topped with raspberry puree, grapes, fresh strawberries, melted chocolate, and vanilla ice cream for AUD$12.50.

“Every bit was so good, I can lick the plate!” said my friend Maylee.

La Canadienne

Another friend of mine ordered La Canadienne which was a crêpe from their sweet selection. It was topped with fresh bananas, pure maple syrup, vanilla ice cream, and roasted almonds. It cost AUD$10.

“The crêpe itself had a nice texture. It was crisp on the outside and gooey on the inside. The batter was also flavourful and light. There was no unsavoury aftertaste,” said my friend Glorese. “It had good consistency of maple syrup and I loved the crunch with the slivered almonds.”

Iced mocha
La Brocéliande

I had a savoury galette (made with 100 per cent buckwheat flour) called La Brocéliande with homemade French béchamel, emmental cheese, mushrooms, and ham for AUD$13.50. It was amazing and it was quite filling. I wasn’t even able to finish the whole thing and had to take home my leftover. I also ordered an iced mocha for AUD$7 and it was pretty great, too.

Ambience

With French decor and French shows and music playing in the cafe’s television, you would think you have been transported to France in an instant.

Service

Our server was a lovely and friendly French lady (I believe all the staff are French) who gave us her recommendations on which crêpes are the most popular ones.

If you are in Melbourne and craving for some délicieux crêpes, then do stop by any of La Petite Crêperie’s sites. You wouldn’t regret it.

They all look so delicious! I live in France and admit I don’t eat crepes that often. This article is making me rethink that!

  2. The place seems really good and I am already feeling very hungry looking at those delicious French crepes. Especially the picture of that crepe with a dollop of ice cream on it is so good.

  3. Pancakes 🙂 They seem to know what they are in Australia.
I was in Luxembourg, and they ask why are they called pain-cakes 😀

  4. Looks like a blast, I’ll have to keep this in mind for the next time in Aus!

  5. This blog is making me feel very hungry. All the crepes look really delicious. I would love to have La Cannadienne more than La Remi, I am just a huge fan of maple syrup. However, it would be great if they have some vegan options. Do you think they have?

  6. The pictures look super delicious. I love crepes but sadly none of the places around my home makes good crepes.
