Eat, Pray, Love in NYC

As I type this blog entry, I am 4 days and 50-something minutes away from flying to New York City. I am excited, happy, indifferent and meh about this trip.

The past month has been a really, really tough month for me. As you’ve noticed, I did not post anything for more than a month when I try to post at least once a week. I have been busy studying for the LSAT and trying to get into law school. I am not even sure if I want to be a lawyer, all I know is that I need a career that could support the lifestyle I was used to. I did try to get jobs in the field of journalism. I got so close to getting this general news reporter position in some small town in Alberta but never really heard anything from them yet so I don’t know what now? My boyfriend of almost four years also decided to break up with me (after numerous attempts in the past and me telling him I do not want to and convincing him that it is not a good idea, I decided to finally give in this time.)

I am 23 for 5 more days and then I turn 24. This is a great way to start another year in my life, eh?

There are some few good things I am thankful for that happened to me in the past month. I became Canadian on June 12th. I also spent more time with my new friends. I am getting my Canadian passport tomorrow! Here’s to more opportunities to travel in the future! I guess, life is not that bad.

I am still hoping that this trip to New York will help me understand myself and really figure out what I want in my life. Do I really want to be with him or is it just too comfortable to be in this relationship that I refuse to let go? Do I really need a high-paying career or is it okay to just live simply and find happiness in the simplest of things? What do I really want to do with my life? I’m turning 24, I am young but I am not getting any younger.

I am hoping NYC will have the answers and if it doesn’t then, let’s just have a good time.

Update you soon.
