UTCA brings chimney cakes to Calgary

Calgary foodies, especially dessert-lovers, would be glad to know that chimney cakes are now in Cowtown, thanks to UTCA.

Chimney cakes are tube-shaped cakes that are hollow inside. At UTCA, they can be filled with any spread you like including Nutella, dulce de leche, and organic honey. If you want to be really fancy, you may opt to have it filled with a choice of vanilla or chocolate soft serve from Fiasco Gelato. There are also many toppings to choose from like rainbow sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles, and shredded coconut.

For those who do not have a sweet-tooth there is a savoury option as well since there are chimney cakes with cheese, bacon bits, and herbs.

Chimney cakes originated from Romania and is called Kürtőskalács in Hungarian.

Location: 207 13 Ave SE Calgary, AB

  1. Chimney cakes! I’ve never heard of them but they look nice! It’s a good idea to replace the ice cream cones with cakes and fill them up with nutella, yummy!

  6. I have never heard of Chimney Cakes before. This is a must-try I am sure. I love desserts, but do not consume dairy. I wish there are few vegan versions of this in UTCA.
