How To Travel The World On A Budget

Traveling the world is definitely something that most people would love to be able to do, however for a lot of people it’s something that’s quite unrealistic because not only do they are perhaps not have the time to travel, but they also have other commitments, such as children, family,  jobs and many other things that take priority vs travelling.

Another big issue for many people and is probably the main reason why most people don’t travel the way they would really love to is that money is something that is obviously needed for travel.

So in this post we are going to share with you how you can travel the world on a budget.

Stay in hostels:

Hostels traditionally got a bit of a bad reputation for being places that were unclean, full of party lovers, and just simply not really the best places to stay when travelling.

However, nowadays hostels are really upping their game and have started to focus on people who are looking for basic accommodation that are clean and tidy, but also provides them with a good social social network and who are not looking to spend a lot of money on accommodation. You can have a look at places like hostelworld.com where you can find plenty of amazing hostels all over the world catering to different budgets and age groups, so it’s not always just about people who love to party, it’s about the social aspect of meeting new people and enjoying the overall travel experience without spending too much on hotels.

Use your own transport:

Nowadays everyone flies when they travel, however this is not the only way that you can get around when travelling.

Depending on where you want to travel from and to, you could do things like take your car or even rent an RV or camper van if you wanted to travel on a budget and have more freedom in your schedule.

However if you’ve never driven a caravan before and are interested in this option then this is definitely something you should do a bit of research about online and find places where you can ask these questions before purchasing a caravan, such as how much mileage does it have? What is the safety record? As well as other concerns that you may have.

Cook for yourself or eat local:

When travelling, food is often one of the biggest expenses that people incurr, so it makes sense that you should budget carefully for food when you’re travelling. This means that instead of going to fancy restaurants in typical tourist hotspots, you should do things like cook for yourself if you’re able to and if you’re not able to cook for yourself then perhaps you could look at restaurants where locals eat, since not only is the food going to be a lot cheaper, but you’ll find that food is a lot more authentic since this is where the locals who live there actually eat.

Go on free or independent tours:

When you’re travelling, of course one of the things that you want to do is see the most of the place that you’re visiting, but tours can sometimes be expensive. The good news is that many places now offer things like free walking tours, cooking classes, and other things that allow you to experience more of the culture when when you’re travelling without going overboard on the budget. If your budget really doesn’t allow for any lower end classes or tours then you can even just walk around on your own and explore things independently.
