Peninsula Hot Springs, Victoria, Australia

The Peninsula Hot Springs in Fingal, Victoria was a highlight of my trip to Australia when I went there in August. I think the timing was perfect as it was winter in Australia at that time and so taking a dip in their geothermal mineral springs was definitely a good way to relax and soothe my tired bones (hey, travelling is a full-time job :P)

This award-winning hot springs and day spa offers different bathing experiences including a cave pool, Turkish Hamam (steam bath), reflexology walk, cold plunge pool, foot baths, and a hilltop pool. You can expect the pool temperatures to be 34 to 42 degrees Celsius depending on the pool.

I would say the reflexology walk and the hilltop pool were hands down my favourites. The hilltop pool provides a 360-degree view of the region and my aunt, cousin, and I were there to watch the sunset. It was such a beautiful pool with an amazing view so it made perfect sense as to why it was popular amongst the visitors which makes it always crowded compared to the other pools.

Enjoying a dip in a hot spring is more than just for relaxation as it has many other benefits including improved circulation to body’s extremities, strengthens bones, alleviation of arthritic symptoms, and promotes healthy skin. These are all thanks to the minerals found in the hot springs water such as chloride, boron, magnesium, potassium, and sodium.

Before you go enjoy a relaxing day at the Peninsula Hot Springs, take note of some of the bathing etiquette and tips given by Charles Davidson, Peninsula Hot Springs founder.

  1. Like with many other public pools, it is important to shower first before taking a dip.
  2. Keep yourself hydrated before, during, and after your bathing experience.
  3. Take the time to adjust to the pool temperature and slowly ease your way in.
  4. Limit your bathing time and take breaks in between.
  5. Keep the minerals in your skin by not rinsing after your bath.
  6. Rest up and allow your body to cool down.

Treating yourself to a massage and having a delicious meal in between bathing experiences are some of the other things you can do at the Peninsula Hot Springs.

My family and I drove 90 minutes south of Melbourne to get there but there are many other transportation options available.

  5. Aww I love hot springs! This one looks exceptionally relaxing. Your tips are helpful and a great reminder to even those (i.e. me) to make sure you take care of your body when enjoying the hot springs. Sometimes when you relax you forget the simple things like hydration. It looks like you had a great time with your cousin and aunt! Lastly, I completely agree – traveling is a full-time job 😉

  6. Mineral hot pools are one of my favourites. It’s great that you got to go in the winter, the summer is often too hot for spaing for a long time. I like how the nature surrounds the pool, rather than the area around being dug out and ‘touristified’. It must have made the experience so much more authentic. How many different pools are there?

  9. Hot springs are amazing when you are traveling! It’s easy to get sore from taking different modes of transportation long distances and walking/hiking a lot. I didn’t really know that hot springs were a thing until I went to Iceland last year. Now I want to go to them in more places! The hilltop pool at the Peninsula hot springs would be really nice with the 360 degree views.

  13. First, let me tell you that I simply love your blog banner. Its quirky and eye-catching. I loved reading your post on Peninsula Hot Springs, its got everything I love cave pool, Hammam and a hilltop pool with great views. Hot springs are amazing for one’s body and mind, we have many in India but sadly most of them are not maintained properly.
