Africa is maybe the most incredible continent in the world, and one of the least explored by your average tourist. If you’re looking for a vacation that’s a little different from the norm, it’s the best place in the world to visit. Here are three countries you must check out:
Tanzania
Of all the countries in Africa, Tanzania boasts perhaps the most tourist attractions. From glorious coastlines with beaches with white powdery sand to areas of incredible natural beauty, Tanzania has it all. If you want to go on a safari, Tanzania is the best place to do it. You can see elephants, lions, crocodiles, giraffes and chimpanzees, and hundreds of other creatures. You can also choose a more traditional safari in a Jeep or a boat cruise in Selous Game Reserve. Tanzania is also home to Mt Kilimanjaro, which is Africa’s highest peak and climbed by thousands every year. Although it’s a challenging climb, it’s worth it for the incredible view – particularly of the sunrise. The Serengeti National Park in the north of Tanzania is also absolutely worth a visit. It’s known for both its prey and predator creatures, including lions, cheetahs and hyenas alongside zebras, impalas, and gazelles. The Serengeti National Park is truly one of the most breathtaking places to visit in Africa.
Ghana
If you’ve never been to Africa before then Ghana is a great place to start. A stable country with friendly people and a warm atmosphere, it has a tropical climate all year long and has sights to see such as Kintampo Waterfalls, which has three main drops including an 82-ft one, and Kakum National Park, which is covered in tropical rainforest and boasts endangered species including the African elephant, the Diana monkey, the white-breasted guinea fowl and the African grey parrot, along with a lot of glorious butterflies. If you want to volunteer in Ghana, there are a lot of opportunities for you to do so. From teaching English to working in orphanages to teaching sports to helping out in hospitals, if you choose to volunteer, not only will you be able to help people but you’ll also be able to gain a well-rounded view of the country, thanks to spending some time living there.
South Africa
Made up of nine provinces, South Africa is a varied country that will ensure that travellers never get bored. Although it has a difficult and upsetting past, the country has come a long way in recent years since the apartheid era. Major cities like Cape Town and Johannesburg are worth a visit – check out the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town, a pentagonal castle which was built in the 17th century and was declared as a historical monument in 1936. South Africa is also a great country to go to if you want to go on a safari – you can see elephants, lions, leopards, buffalos, and rhinos before enjoying incredible meals in the evenings. If you want curry, Durban is the place to go, and of course check out the wine in the Winelands region.

I have plans of visiting Tanzania. Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire, and Zanzibar. But I didn’t know that Ghana was such a great place too. Thanks for sharing.
