Tile: A Must-Have Tracker for Travellers

If you are one of those people who keep losing things like your passport, wallet, cellphone, or keys then you must check out Tile. Tile has a series of Bluetooth-enabled devices paired with a Tile app to help you find anything.

“Over the years we’ve seen our customers use Tile for a variety of items,” said Tile CEO CJ Prober. “From wallets to remote controls, power tools to backpacks, our customers have shown us they want a Tile for everything.”

Which Tile product is right for me?

Currently, there are four devices in the Tile product line.

Sticker

The Sticker is the smallest device in Tile’s product line and can stick to anything. It is great for small electronic devices and outdoor gear but can be attached to most metal and plastic materials. It has a Bluetooth range of 150 feet. This product is also waterproof.

Pro

The Pro device is a high-performance finder and is designed for higher-end gear. This device has the longest Bluetooth range out of all the Tile products and can find items as far as 400 feet. The Pro is also water-resistant.

Mate

With a Bluetooth range of 200 feet, Mate is Tile’s most versatile finder and is easy enough to attach to everyday things. This product is also water-resistant.

Slim

Slim is the sleekest device of Tile’s product line in the shape of a credit card. Its low-profile design makes it perfect for items with narrow spaces such as a wallet, laptop, or luggage tags. This waterproof product has a Bluetooth range of 200 feet.

Tile was generous enough to send me Tile’s Essential four-pack containing two stickers, mate, and slim.

How to use Tile device and app

All you need to do is to stick your Bluetooth-enabled Tile device of your choice to an item you don’t want to lose then use the Tile app on your phone by tapping on the “Find” button. The Tile app can also tell you the last time and place your item was located.

Your own personal search party

If your item is too far to be detected due to Bluetooth range or volume level of your Tile device, all you have to do is mark your item as lost in the Tile app and every phone running the Tile app can anonymously help you find it. If found, you will be notified by a Tile community member of your item’s location.

“Whether it’s their backpacks, their cameras, or their keys, the Tile community comes together to locate lost items,” Prober said. “With more customers using our expanded hardware lineup, more partners adopting our technology, and more access points coming to market every day, we continue to deliver the most versatile and powerful finding platform.”

OMG, this is genius!!! I think I need the entire set, or maybe a few sets (for some of my girl-friends too, who have the same problem of an absent mind). I also really like the design of it, neither of them is too obvious.

I’ve heard about the Tile products. I didn’t know there were stickers and a credit card shaped one. I would be interested in the Tile sticker to put on my phone or the keychain to put on my check-in luggage. I like how there is a Tile community so others can help locate your lost items.

Wow that’s a really great idea! It is just way to easy to lose important things.

  1. What a cool idea. I could definitely use this as someone who is constantly misplacing my phone (and usually when it’s on silent).

  2. OMG, I need this! Every time I loose something (which is pretty often!) I think to myself that I need something like this that will tell me where it is so I don’t look like a chicken with its head cut off. It’s great to know they do, I may have to invest in this!
