Three FREE things to do in Calgary on Aug. 15

  1. Watch a movie outdoors! Head on over to 1220 Kensington Road NW and watch Mike Peterson’s Lloyd the Conquer, a movie shot exlusively in our beautiful city. “Kensington Summertime Outdoor Movies is made possible by TRUCK Contemporary Art in Calgary in partnership with the Kensington BRZ.” Show starts at 9 p.m. Popcorn not included!
  2. Go on a guided walking tour followed by a potluck picnic! Tour starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Meeting place is at containR Art Park (1020 2nd Ave. NW). Watch dancers perform in your neighbours’ lawns as you walk by. “Front Lawn Dances celebrates creativity in community and showcases the unique stories of the incredible people that make up our neighbourhoods through movement and story.”
  3. Get to know the dead! I know it is summer and not Halloween yet, but the City of Calgary offers free guided walking tours of three local cemeteries. On Aug. 15, tour guides will take anyone interested to St. Mary’s Pioneer Cemetery to get to know Calgarians who have already passed away but made positive contributions to our beloved city. The tour is from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. “Meeting point is at the Pioneer Cemetery gates, just inside the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Erlton St. & 32 Ave. S.E.

BONUS: On Aug. 14, check out a night market! Inglewood is having its third night market of the year! There will be live bands to entertain market-goers, loads of food to choose from, and a variety of hand-crafted items to check out. Doors open at 6 p.m. Market is located at 10 St. at 9 Ave. SE in Inglewood.
