“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,
And they’re like
It’s better than yours,
Damn right it’s better than yours,”
Sorry. I just had to. 😛 What? You have never heard of that song? Seriously? OMG! Head over here pronto!
Anyways, when I was still a newbie in Calgary, the most common invite I get from boys back then was to go to Peter’s Drive-In and they said it has the best milkshake in town. I never really went out with those two guys who invited me for a milkshake though. 😛
To be honest, I do not remember the very first time I went there. Oh wait. I do! I went there with my friends, Cayley and Arian. It was winter back then, too so it was not an ideal day for a milkshake. From then on, I was hooked. It is definitely the best milkshake in Calgary!
There are 30 milkshake flavours and you can mix up to three flavours which means there are over 4,500 combinations! I have heard from a friend that someone tried to mix all 30 flavours and that concoction is called a ‘Tombstone!’ 😛 I usually stick to my chocolate-marshmallow-oreo milkshake, though!
Peter’s milkshakes are just so thick and creamy and the size is huge for me, I could never ever finish one.
From the numerous times I have been there, I have also tried their hotdogs and burgers. The hotdogs are alright. Burgers are good, too. I would not say it is the best burger ever but the winning factor of Peter’s burgers is that it always comes with half an extra patty. So a single burger is actually a patty and a half!
Their onion rings, though, those I like!
The lines are always super long in the summer in both take out and drive through. That is how good Peter’s Drive-In is.
Payments used to be cash only but now you can pay by debit card. Credit cards are still not being accepted, though, so come prepared!
I recently found out that Peter’s Drive-In opened a new branch in Red Deer, Alberta which actually makes me sad because then, it isn’t just a Calgary thing anymore. 🙁
I guess with something so good, you just have to share it with everyone else. Right, Gus Pieters?
What other people have to say:
“What I like about it is that even after 18 years the burgers and shakes still taste like the ones I had all those years ago. It makes me feel like I’m recapturing a part of myself long gone.” -Jennifer Lealand
“Definitely the milkshakes. And the nostalgia. My parents used to take us when we were kids, and while I experiment with other flavors now and then, I always go back to my favorite from back then: Banana-chocolate.“ -Jenna MacWhirter
“You always get more!!! You ask for a “single burger” and you get a patty and a half! The sauce… mmmmmm!” -Erin Nielsen
“I like how it’s more about the experience than the food.” -Andreea Catana
So funny! As I was reading this I was thinking “oh I know the first time she went!” Peter’s is delicious. Even in the winter 😉
30 flavors of milkshakes? I would not know how to choose. Only answer? Make your date order something different so you can sample!
