If you watch Fear Factor, you probably have seen the contestants eating (or at least trying to) eat this “balut” egg.
Balut is a popular Filipino delicacy that is often sold on the streets, usually at night. A man usually carries a basket full of warm balut while yelling at the top of his lungs: “balooooooootttt”!
Balut is a (somewhat) developed duck egg. At times, you get to see the beak of the duck! How crazy is that?
I am Filipino myself but I do not fancy it. Hehe. I tried it once as a kid, due to my aunt’s persuasion. I did not even eat the whole thing! I just sipped a tiny teeny bit of the liquid-y stuff. It was salty. It was not bad.
Anyways, here is a video of Gabe being taught by our neighbour, James, how to eat balut the right way during one of their inuman sessions.
Watch and maybe you will learn how to eat it, too or maybe just watch it and squirm throughout the video. Either way, I promise you it will be fun. Hehe.
