Hello there, my loves!
It is a long weekend and I am stuck at home with nothing to do. My friend told me to go out and explore but I am just not feeling it today (maybe tomorrow or the day after tomorrow?) so I decided to look through my stuff and clean my room. What happened next?
Well…I found some of my boarding passes, maps, plane tickets, museum tickets, and other trinkets I have collected from my travels. Then…*light bulb thingy turns on* I got this brilliant idea to make travel jars!
I went on a mini-adventure to a dollar store and bought an empty jar, a label sticker, and a decorative tape which cost me CAD$3.94 in total. You could definitely just recycle an empty jar you find at home, cut out a piece of paper to use as labels, and use ordinary tape. There really are no rules and you do not have to spend money on this. I just do not have an empty jar at home and I found the label sticker kinda cute and the decorative tape fancy so I bought those. I already own my pastels and scissors so I did not have to buy those.
Anyways, back to making a travel jar. Gather all your materials.
Then start decorating! ^_^ I made mine so simple with just a label, two strips of decorative tape, named my jar, put in other information I need to remember the trip like where, when, and why.
After you are done decorating your jar and you are happy and content with it, collect all your memorabilia that you want to put in it. This is the most exciting part for me because it brings back so many memories!! Oh this jar is just full of stories!
Put all of these items in your travel jar and have a safe place for all of your travel memorabilia! You no longer have to worry about losing them and you can even have a dedicated cabinet to show off your travel jars! I don’t have one yet because I move a lot so maybe once I have my own place. ^_^
P.S. I chose a glass jar rather than a box because this way I can see what’s inside and I don’t know I’m just in love with jars. Haha.
Expenses: $3.94 for the empty jar, decorative tape, and label stickers. BUUUTTTT remember all these materials may be found in your own homes so technically, you do not have to spend anything to make a travel jar.
Send me photos of your travel jars because I would absolutely LOVE to see them! E-mail me at jusztravel@gmail.com, tweet it to us, or post it on our Facebook page.
