You are probably wondering how much my upcoming Iceland trip costs? Well, wonder no more! Here is a break down of how much my Iceland trip scheduled for January 2016 has cost me so far. A complete day to day break down of my Iceland trip will be released after my trip. So watch out for that as well!
As I was going through my Facebook feed last month, I saw a three-night four-star Iceland getaway for only CAD$659 from Icelandair! And I thought, holy cow that is awesome! The deal is for double occupancy so it would cost more if I booked it alone for myself. Thankfully, my brother wanted to go so this is a breakdown of costs per person. The deal only includes flights and accommodations, tours are extra and are not part of the package deal offered by Icelandair. All prices below already includes tax.
Oh yeah! Before we get started, you have to know that I am not a budget traveler or backpacker. I love finding deals but I am always willing to pay extra for a bit more comfort in my travels. Also, I am not a nomad. I have a 9 to 5 job that only gives me 15 days of vacation every year, so I try to squeeze in as many short trips as I can in a year, even if it means I have to pay thousands of dollars for a few days just to see one place. Okay! Here goes…
CAD$659 – Edmonton, Canada to Keflavik, Iceland roundtrip flights and three nights accommodation (no breakfast included)
CAD$44 – Roundtrip airport transfer with Flybus
CAD$256 – Four-hour snorkel tour at Silfra with Iceland Excursions including hotel pick up and drop off
CAD$307 – 12-hour glacier hike and northern lights tour with Icelandic Mountain Guides including hotel pick up and drop off
CAD$96 – Blue Lagoon admission including hotel pick up and drop off
Total expenses per person: CAD$1,362
So there you go guys. That is how much my trip to Iceland cost me. In addition to that, I plan to bring CAD$400 as pocket money for food, shopping, etc. That CAD$400 will be divided into four days so I will have CAD$100 to spend on each day I am in Iceland. Therefore, I am looking at a total of CAD$1,762 (if I stick within my $400 budget for miscellaneous expenditures).
