8 Destinations So Amazing You’ll Never Want To Leave

No matter how much of a traveller you are, chances are you always want more! That’s one of the dangerous things about travelling; it can be surprisingly addictive. This is equally true, I think, for newbies and seasoned world-walkers alike. Once you catch the travelling bug, there is not all that much you can do to get it out of your system – except keep travelling! Not everyone can do that, unfortunately, in their current situation. But the truth is, you can always make it possible if you really want to. The question that interests me here is: what sort of places get people so excited that they feel like they never want to go back home? What is it that makes certain destinations so magical? I thought I would put together a list of some of the top travelling destinations in the world that make you wish you could stay forever. See if any of these ring any bells with you.

Tokyo, in particular, is such a fascinating place – everybody should visit at least once just to get a feel for it. It’s incredibly overpopulated, yet somehow full of extremely friendly locals. And there are a huge array of other nationalities as well. Not to mention that Japan has some fascinating history, with evidence of it all over the place. It is also the ideal holiday destination for any technophiles out there! Some places on earth just automatically exude positive vibes, and Japan is one of those places. It doesn’t always get the best media coverage, but visit Japan and you’ll see – it’s hard to tear yourself away.

Thailand

Home to arguably some of the friendliest people on the planet, Thailand often has the effect of feeling like a home away from home. The people are so nice that it is practically impossible not just to dive right into the culture. Not to mention that it offers some of the most delicious food anywhere in Asia. Bangkok is a must-see for anyone travelling through Southeast Asia, if only for the floating market. If you go around the time of the Thai new year, then you might get to experience Songkran. This is a water-fight on a scale you’ve never even heard of before. You might find that homelife will seem a little boring after the Thais have shown you what fun really means.

Nepal

Nepal has had some difficult times as of late, and that in itself is more than enough of a reason to go. The Nepalese are the only people on the planet who might outdo the Thais in terms of friendliness and kindness. You will never be turned away or put down by a Nepalese, and you will always be looked after from the moment you set foot in their country. The main thing you will find it difficult to leave, though, is the scenic views. Don’t forget – this is a country which is home to the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, so there is no shortage of breathtaking sights. It is also a prominently spiritual country – home to the Buddha himself, no less.

Australia

This one is worth visiting if only for its sheer size. Australia is famous for having plenty of open space, lots of which remains unexplored to this day. As far as I’m concerned, that just makes it the ideal location for a keen explorer! The Australian people are very welcoming, if a little honest, and it doesn’t take long to feel like you can call the place home. For a fascinating cultural trip, consider Sydney or Melbourne. There is a famous rivalry between the two cities, but in my opinion, they both rock in entirely different ways.

Before you book your flights to Australia, check to see if you need to apply for an Australian ETA.

And with all that open terrain, there is plenty for the off-road trekker as well. If you are keen on North America this year, but you’ve already done the USA to death, then this might be your choice.

Barbados is rightly well-known for being a paradise on earth. It’s true – they have mastered the art of fine living. Barbados has a famous history of cultural diversity. Not only that, but its laidback vibe is sure to keep you relaxed. If you are ever keen for a classic holiday, Barbados is the place. White sandy beaches, rum punch – glorious.
